During our move over the Thanksgiving weekend we spotted 20 or so Mallards
in one of the salt water/fresh water ponds near Pescadero. A surprise for
me as I hadn't expected to see them in such conditions.
A few red-winged blackbirds are mixed with the Brewers here (we're just
south of Santa Cruz), and several golden-crowned sparrows and Mourning doves
are also in the area. A resident Mockingbird has been hopping around the
bushes and we also have two Stellers and one Scrub jay in the vicinity.
But, much to my delight (I'd forgotten how nice it is to have them year
round) we are surrounded by Anna's hummers. It was so good to hear that
familiar hummingbird song!
It's good to be back, I've missed all your posts.
Happy birding!
