Hi folks,

Here are our counts from Area 8 (suburban west Olympia) of the Olympia =
CBC yesterday the 22nd. I had 10 people in my corner of the count, =
which included the area from Hwy 101 north, between Kaiser Road and West =
Bay Drive. They didn't give me any water area along Budd Bay or Capitol =
Lake, but we did have Percival Cove and Grass Lake for some water birds. =
There were 10 people wandering the back-yards and one person watching =
her feeder (where our GOOD BIRD was found). We had a sunny, 'warm' =
morning, but it clouded over by noon and cooled off a few degrees - the =
birds were pretty stingy about showing themselves in the afternoon, and =
it was hard to even get them to respond to 'pishing'.

I didn't get the total counts during the count-down dinner last night, =
but the CBC total was somewhere in the vicinity of 130 species. Few =
owls were seen (they got 2 Snowys at Nisqually NWR, but no one had Great =
Horned, Screech, Pygmy, Saw-whet, etc through the day!), so I walked the =
Garfield Trail in the moonlight and picked up a Screech Owl calling just =
before the rain started coming down at 8PM.

maintained a feeder watch, it was she who chummed-in the Mtn Chickadee, =
took pictures of it, and told Mark and me about it so that we could find =
it (at her neighbor's feeder) and get a good view.. A good time was had =
by all, and the Black Hills Audubon put on a great Chili Feed for =
participants following the count.
