We did a CBC on our Tree Farm on December 22, 1996, a pleasant, cool,
sunny first day of winter.

It seems that the "Three Musketeers", male and female Mandarin duck plus a
male Wood duck are back. The last time we saw them was at the end of
April. They don't mind competing with the 40 or so wild Mallards in the
cracked corn chow line. The 4 Bobwhites are down to 3, 2 males and a
female but they still come around every day since their first appearance
on December 6. Another unusual sighting and sounding was a Raven, never
seen or heard on our Tree Farm before. Missing on that day were the Fox
Sparrow that only appears on the snowy days and the Red-breasted
Sapsucker that got chased off his favorite Cedar Tree by the Douglas
Squirrel.

The complete list follows:

50 Dark-eyed Junco
10 Song Sparrow
10 Spotted Towhee
