Hi Tweets-

I can't believe I'm writing this message. Last night I cleared a
path on the back deck so I could get to my feeders and bird bath. I left
the snow shovel by the sliding glass doors. This morning the snow has
drifted over my head and the door will only open two inches. So much for
the snow shovel. I went out the front where the snow is only up to my knees
but quit half way to the feeders when it reached my waist. I'm reduced to
knocking off the screen on the bedroom window and throwing the feed out that
way. The bird bath is covered and I have no idea what is happening to the
heater in it. I'd unplug it if I could get to the back deck. Last year we
were golfing on New Year's Day. I don't think it will happen this year.

In my yard I have observed the following:

Juncos - which are trying to get on the suet feeders
Fox Sparrows
Varied Thrush
Rufous-sided Towhees
House Sparrow
Bush Tits
Starlings - of course

They have declared a state of emergency here which I have never
heard of happening here before. The ferries are cancelled, airport closed
and the buses aren't running. By the way does anyone have any idea about
what to do about the water situation for the birds? If I put a bucket of it
on the front porch will they find it?
