I don't think I would draw the same species of birds by feeders placed high
in the trees. I would expect the towhees, White-throated Sparrow, and
possibly, the Varied Thrushes to quit visiting if my feeders were up high.

However, my point is that animals can be deterred from going somewhere where
they aren't welcome without hurting them seriously. I don't think that the
sting of hardwood ball on the hind end is likely to last for more than
minutes but does give that cat a bad feeling about coming over under the
feeders. I am very pleased that it worked and I am not a cat hater at all.
