I suspect the Varied Thrushes that are suddenly appearing
at feeders have been in the neighborhood for some time.
I never see Varied Thrushes but I hear their (somewhat
creaky this time of year) calls beginning in about October
and ending in March. They seem to hang around in very dense
conifers.
