During the snow at our home in Lake Stevens we've had the usual varied
thrushes and spotted towhees (but more than normal) with an occasional
fox sparrow and a few juncos and chickadees. We normally have far
more juncos and chickadees around than we do now with the snow.

A bald eagle graced us with a visit on Christmas Eve day perched on a
tall evergreen then flew north along the lake's edge.

One surprise has been an immature white-throated sparrow that's been
hanging around for a few weeks. I didn't know what it was until
I finally found the time to get out the field guides last weekend.
It will be interesting to see just how long it stays.

Happy New Year!
