>From my observations I would guess this to be effective. My wife came up
with an interesting deterrent to window impacts by accident, "static"
(clear plastic sheets with a printed pattern) holiday window decorations.

The window decorations are much like the silhouette except they're rather
colorful. The birds clearly see these as they keep trying to land on them.
A Christmas wreath is a favorite for the chickadees and finches to try to
"perch" in the middle of.

Also, this method tends to make you wash the windows often, lots of dusty
wing marks.
