As the ice flows move down the Columbia (further reminding me of my youth
on the Plains of Nebraska), I hvae been surprised to see several mourning
doves flying around in the cold as well as a purple finch overflying
campus yesterday here at Clark. Unfortunately, the gull reports have
been suspended until they return once the snow is gone, but the Brewer's
blackbirds still gather in the top of the tall tress near the library
every evening, and the gulls still fly over.
The juncos and resident song sparrow awoke before me this morning
and were eating hardly before light hit the yard. Enjoy your feeders or
outings this weekend. RK
