The Yellow-billed Loon was still at the John Wayne Marina S of
Sequim today (what *is* the connection between the Duke and WA,
by the way?). It's not too difficult to pick out in a crowd,
as even at a distance it appears very light-necked and -faced,
brownish, has strongly peaked forehead, large, light-colored bill,
dark, smudged ear spot. When we arrived, the bird was way out in
the bay; we weren't sure about the ID at that point, but it casually
worked its way shoreward, eventually coming into the marina harbor
and within less than 50 feet of us (most-excellent views of a bird
that has eluded us on at least 3 chases over the past 2 years).
