This is Kas Dumroese with the northern Idaho / eastern Washington /
northeastern Oregon bird hotline.

The female RUSTY BLACKBIRD reported by the Denny's on January 26
west of College Place, Washington, was seen again on the 28th by
Michael Wilson. The bird was in a flock of 1000+ assorted blackbirds,
starlings and meadowlarks off Last Chance Road which is off US 12.
Washington DeLorme p. 41, d-5.

Yesterday, February 1, Dan Svingen and I watched a GYRFALCON zip
over my home on Paradise Ridge, south of Moscow.

Four SNOWY OWLS were reported by Randy Hill and Bill and Nancy
LaFramboise on January 21 just northeast of Moses Lake. The birds were
along "L" NE, between Wheeler and Nelson Roads, all sitting on top of
irrigation lines. That would be just east of the airport. Dick Johnson
reports seeing one in this location on January 29. It was on the 8th
power pole east of "L" NE along Nelson Road. Washington DeLorme p.
69, c-d-6-7.

Also on January 29, in this same area along "L" NE, were four SHORT-
EARED OWLS, according to Dick.

SNOW BUNTINGS were in every large flock of Horned Larks along
Washington 26 between Dusty and Washtucna on January 29, according
to Dick Johnson. He saw 9 buntings 7 miles west of Dusty, 12 more 10
miles west of Dusty, and 12 more 5 miles west of Washtucna. Check
Washington DeLorme p. 55, b-5.5 through p. 56, b-1 and 2.

Dan Svingen reports a single AMERICAN TREE SPARROW in his
Grangeville, Idaho backyard on Wednesday, January 31.

I think every bird feeder in the Moscow-Pullman area has a VARIED
THRUSH in attendance, except mine.

The six WESTERN BLUEBIRDS, still eeking out an existence on Moscow
Mountain, were seen by Dave Holick on January 27.

>From Coeur d'Alene, John Shipley saw 1000+ BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS
on the west side of CdA at the intersection of Nez Perce and Moccasin
Roads.

Also today, John saw a single BARN OWL roosting 1 mile east of the
Washington state line west of Post Falls, Idaho. The bird was in a tree
next to a farm house at 1700 Beck Road, north of I-90. Residents say a
Barn Owl roosts there each winter. Idaho DeLorme p. 60, a-b, right on
the left margin.
