Acadia National Park is seeking an intern to assist in monitoring the
reproductive biology of nesting peregrine falcons and to help educate the
public about the birds' activities. Specific duties include: on-site
interpretation using spotting scopes (55%); monitoring falcon behavior and
habitat use (30%), and; preparing weekly and end of season reports (15%). Two
to three weeks of training will be provided, which will include orientation on
the biology of peregrines, the park and local area, natural resource issues,
and interpretive skills.

Job Requirements: proficiency in public speaking, excellent observation and
recording skills, valid driver's license, and personal transporation.

Desired Job Skills: three or more years of college with emphasis
in environmental science, ornithology, natural resource management or related
fields; experience working in park related setting; experience interacting
with the general public; first aid training.

Internship begins April 15, 1996 and ends August 17, 1996. Housing and
$100.00 stipend per week provided. Mail resume and three references
