Hello, this is Portland Audubon Society's Rare Bird Alert. This recording
was made Thursday February 8. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls
at 233-3976.

Snow, Ice, Heavy rains, and Flooding has restricted birding in most areas
during the week.

A bright male WILLIAMSON'S SAPSUCKER was found February 3 among a group of
wintering RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKERS at the head of the soap box derby track
in Mt. Tabor Park in southeast Portland. Several people have since
relocated the bird.

Also on February 3, a male WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL was seen near Timberline
Lodge on Mt. Hood. Several flocks of probable WHITE-WINGEDS were observed
flying about the same area. Up to 20 CASSIN'S FINCHES are also in the
Timberline Lodge area.

A SAGE SPARROW has been coming to a feeder in Gaston for the past three weeks.

On February 3 the RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, the TURKEY VULTURE, and two
WHITE-TAILED KITES were found at Hidden Valley east of Newport.

The Rogue Valley has remained mild through the week. On February 5 a ROSS'
GOOSE was in Ashland. Two early BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS were on Roxy Ann
Butte, six LARK SPARROWS were to the north at Agate Reservoir, and some
TURKEY VULTURES seen over the valley.

The RED-SHOULDERED HAWK continues to be seen at the Miller Island Wildlife
Area Headquarters in the Klamath Basin.
