I had occasion to be in the Yuba City area last weekend and
got to see lots of birds...flock of whistler swans was quite
impressive...there were raptors everywhere..and yes, several
good views of red shouldered hawks, too many redtails to
count and a white tailed kite...and a life bird--strikingly
handsome black phoebe--kingfishers galore and on the trip out
to I-5 I counted 27 kestrels and another dozen *possibles* in a
distance of 20+ miles..balmy weather for the most part
with a rainstorm Sat am to remind me of home..
The trip through Oregon on Sunday was *dicey* with several
overturned semis and hundreds of cars everywhere--every
which way..I was really glad to sink into that hot tub
at home...
