Black Phoebe's are present in the suburbs of
southern California. I recently succeded in
finding a hobby for my mother's retirement ;-)
by pointing out that she has a resident
Black Phoebe keeping the flying insect population
in check in her yard.

About Yuba City:
I was greatly impressed with the wildlife refuge
near there. Nature's splendor, with a few interprative
displays, really helped to impress the grandeur of
California's central vally before it was drained by
you-know-who. It *was* compared to the Serengeti in
terms of wildlife abundance, and large predators too
(grizzlies and cougars were once common).
