Subject: Reifel Refuge - Owls

A trip to Reifel Refuge should sharpen owl detection skills: it still holds
at least 4 Saw-whet Owls. New for me were their roosts in lumps of
branches of Douglas Fir, several metres away from the trunk of the tree.
Their particularly white and gooey whitewash might help finding them.
Also, a Great Horned Owl and a Barn Owl were present. 4 Short-Eared Owls
were seen a few km's to the E at Brunswick Point.

The first Tree Swallow was seen yesterday at Reifel.
