At this time the Nisqually Refuge is closed for the duration.
Last weekend a friend was told by the new
Asst Refuge Mgr that the damage was extensive and severe
and that the dike was breached in several places..he was also
told there is a POSSIBILITY that the Refuge could remain
closed a long time as the repairs could be more expensive than
the available dollars to do it...
Obviously, the situation is serious, but just how serious
we don't know yet. I intend to ask the Asst Refuge Mgr to come
on *Bird Talk* and discuss the closure and duration of same..
At this point we don't have enough information to do anything
but speculate on how this will affect those of us who enjoy
the Refuge..

I flew over it Sunday and the damage is as reported..

When we have any SOLID INFORMATION it will be time to act.
