My first look at a Brandt's cormorant was on the Edmonds Ferry. The
bird was on one of the pilings just outside the windows as the ferry
was loading, so I was only about 15 feet away, at eye level, on a
beautiful sunny day. A *great* first look! The eyes immediately
caught my attention, as they looked like two brilliant saphires staring
back at me. The bird was in alternate plumage, and was stunningly gorgeous.
