This year, like the last two, my wife and I played hookie from school and
went birding. This year we went to the Lewiston Levee (one of our
favorite places, because we love to watch waterfowl).

Spring must be truly upon us, for we found a pair of robins building a
nest in one of the trees (If there's any ornithological evidence to
contradict the spring-idea, keep it to yourself...it makes for a better
Valentiney story:-).

Currently present at the Lewiston Levee are:

Old Friends:
300 Mallards
50 Canada Geese
20 Wood Ducks
20 Am. Coots
15 Am. Wigeons
40+ Rock Doves
2 Starlings

Guest Stars:
3 Pied-billed Grebes (showing off some brightly colored bills, definitely
edging towards summer plumage!)

6 Hooded Mergansers (2 males)

5 Buffleheads (2 Males) (There were "tons" of buffleheads a couple of
months ago)

3 Canvasbacks (2 Males) I'm still surprised at how long these guys are
hanging around.

1 Lesser Scaup (Male)

In short, a wonderful Valentine's Day trip!
