This is the Lower Columbia Basin Audubon Society Rare Bird Alert for
February 15, 1996. For any questions regarding LCBAS call Mike Lilga at
946-8966.

On February 10, Mike and MerryLynn Denny found a Eurasian Wigeon plus 2
adult and 1 - 2nd year Glaucous Gulls at the Walla Walla River Delta.
Another Eurasian Wigeon was briefly seen the previous day at Two Rivers
County Park (in Kennewick) by Dennis Rockwell.

On February 10, Bill LaFramboise discovered a Say's Phoebe along Donovan
Road just east of Highway 125. Donovan Road enters the highway just north
of the Tomco Seed Company about 14 miles north of Walla Walla. Another
Say's Phoebe was found by Mike Denny on February 13, 8 miles north of Clyde.

On February 11, Dennis Johnson observed a blue phase Snow Goose on the pond
to the north of the McNary National Wildlife Refuge headquarters. Two days
earlier, my wife and I (Pat and Bob Woodley) saw a white phase Snow Goose in
the same location. Both birds were accompanied by hundreds of Canada Geese.

The female Harlequin Duck was rediscovered on Mill Creek (Walla Walla) on
February 12, just east of the Mill Creek Project Office as reported by Mike
Denny.

At the Walla Walla Delta on February 12, there were 6 Dunlin plus a variety
of ducks. A few miles north, at Casey Pond (part of McNary NWR), 12
immature Bald Eagles met on the ice or roosted in surrounding trees.

And hot off the press, Nancy LaFramboise found a Violet-green Swallow at the
McNary NWR headquarters pond this afternoon (2/15).

To report your own sightings, please give your name, phone number and
sightings after the tone. Thank you.
