Ed Shulz on 2/15:

>I stopped by the Great Blue Heron rookery north of the Park and Ride in
>Kenmore today for the first time. There were birds in most of the nests.
>The Park and Ride is on the north side of NE Bothell Way east of 68th.
>The nests are visible from the road.

Likewise, the Lake Sammamish State Park (LSSP) GBHE rookery is coming to
life. I first noted birds tending the nests on the same day (2/15). They
are most visible from now until the cottonwoods leaf out, April, I guess.
The rookery can be viewed from the LSSP boat launch off East Lake Sammamish
Parkway, along the lake shore by looking south, OR, from the north side of
Issaquah Creek at the footbridge, accessable by walking north from the south
parking lot off West Lake Sammaish Parkway (also called SE 56th). Look to
the north from there into the tops of the distant cottonwoods.
