I do both, and bicycling is a lot scarier because very few people in
cars (regardless of politics or culture) know what to do around
bikes, which goes something like just relax and slow down. The worst
drivers tend to be younger as theyre always supremely confident of
their driving abilities (so was I then) so cutting too close doesn't
worry them, just me!

Now that I think about it, I don't recall any nasty birding
experiences while alone or with a handful of people. The only times
there have been any problems was with big groups. Probably we
shouldn't have been wearing those United Nations berets.
