Hi, Jim and other Tweets. Yes, Steven and I have heard Steller's Jays
imitate Red-tailed Hawks, when we lived in south Kitsap County. The
first time I heard the imitation call, it sounded as if a hawk was on our
bedroom deck where we had the bird feeders, and I was frankly
suspicious. When I checked, I was disappointed to find that, sure
enough, there was no Red-tail, only a Steller's Jay (that's the
raptor-phile in me talking). --Anna Coles, Seattle, WA
