A professor visiting Simon Fraser University would like to round out his
check list with some west coast specials on Saturday. The birds he's
after in the greater Vancouver area include:

tufted puffin (sorry pal, go swimming)
thick-billed murre (might be a stuffed specimen in the provincial museum)
white-tailedptarmigan (any possibilities at Cypress Bowl?)
great gray owl (whats the word on the bird down south?)
spotted owl (no comment)
Western screech owl (anything local?)
northern pygmy owl (there was one up on Buranby Mountain the last few winters)
