query...

LS>I'm looking to purchase a camera that can serve two functions: 1) take
LS>usual family chaos shots, with built-in flash, auto-focus,
LS>idiot-proofing, etc. and 2) be able to use as a quasi-birding camera, o
LS>that I could put a long lens on and take reasonable shots of birds in t
LS>field. Is this possible? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciat

I would suggest looking at the Canon EOS Rebel and EOS Elan. These are
auto-focus, auto-exposure cameras that can take any Canon mount manual or
auto focus lens. They are very versatile cameras.

Since you're in the Seattle area, I would suggest going to Kemore Camera
(in Kenmore of course) and/or Ken's Camera downtown.

Take care,
Bruce
