The Skagit Wildlife Area, like most Department of Fish and Wildlife lands,
has a permit requirement for visitors. You must have a valid hunting,
fishing, trapping, or conservation license. For those who wish to do some
birding and who do not have a fishing, trapping, or hunting license, the
conservation license is available for $10.00 and is good for the calander
year. You buy these wherever fishing and hunting licenses are sold.

The law requiring the conservation license for the "non-traditional" users
of these state fish and wildlife lands was intended to share the maintenance
burden across the full range of users of these lands.
