Tweets--

Well, I dumped off the net and called the Refuge..I talked
with the new Asst. Refuge Mgr., and she said given the amount
of damage out there and the tasks they are swamped (literally,
Don..) with, they can't consider coming to the radio show
for a while..I told them I would make the on-air forum possible
at their convenience..she thanked me, but couldn't give any
indication as to when they might be able to do it..so, no
news yet. I impressed upon her that there were people out
here and on this net of two minds:

1. Restore the Refuge as it was and rebuild all the
dikes.

2. Leave it as is, or at least keep some estuarine
habitat as per Jon Anderson's suggestion of
installing culverts to allow tidal access.

I asked her if those possibilities had been discussed and she
said nothing had been discussed yet as they were too busy
picking up the pieces.

I'll stay on top of this and try not to allow the Refuge to
avoid dealing with this. I'll call them in a week or so
and push them some more..I will tell them this is not going
to go away. There's way too much interest in the NWR and
the public reaction Tom Juelson talked about in his post
could certainly be mounted again, only in a lobbying
direction..but, first they need to take a position..

For the moment, I'm taking the *high ground* on this one..
