Subject:Rookeries

Bruce Hemboldt asks about a word for an "egretry"-but since egrets are
herons, wouldn't they be just as happy in a heronry? Certainly a seige of
herons would be. Obviously a great many species might or might not be happy
in their own rookeries-a building of rooks, an ostentation of peacocks, or
a mustering of storks. While birds of a feather, flock together-there are
fewer who nest together. A richness of martins. A flight of swallows. A
colony of penguins. (See James Lipton, "An Exaltation of Larks" Penguin
Books, 1968, 1977 for more veneral fun.)

Puffins and Shearwaters? How about "a burrowing?" Murres? How about "a
montage?"
