I agree with Don on this one. I think the bright orange is more for
hunter spotting hunter rather than anything else. Most birds see in color
and movement is their primary preditor indicator. (Did you know turkey
vultures throw up when scared? - Just a fun bit of trivia there!)

But I believe most mammals see in black and white (logging legislators for
example!)
