My thoughts, exactly. Actually, not my first thought - "Shit, no
wonder it won't sit and let me photograph it from my car!"

I was wondering what the problem with, after past tales of folks
walking around with tripods and snapping away in glee, etc.

Bird was spooky as hell Monday (though as I mentioned the fact
that a local peregrine has learned of its presence might have
something to do with it being nervous in the open, that falcon
nearly gave it a heck of a whack, the owl had to duck, then
flew off!)

My second thoughts were, "oh, great way to piss off the birding
community against raptor banders". I have to question the motives
myself, as I doubt little if any meaningful information will be
learned (I'll have to admit that I was thinking it was a juvie,
the fact that it's a 2+ yr old I find interesting). I know,
being a raptor bander myself, that a substantial proportion of
those doing it do so for the thrill of handling a wild bird, and
wonder myself if this was not part of the motivation in grabbing
this great gray...
