Two reasonably likely spots to find Wood Ducks locally are:
1. The small pond "behind" North Seattle Community College. This pond lies
almost alongside I-5 and can be reached by driving into the college's parking
(the lot separates the college from I-5) and poking about the bushes by the
freeway.
2. Wood ducks breed in the slough on the DFW property behind the Monroe Honor
(prison) Farm along Crescent Lake Road. I forget what DW calls this place,
something like Snoqualmie Unit, but look for the long foot bridge that crosses
the slough. This site is not far off Highway 522 (Lake City Way through
Bothell to Monroe)...you have to go into Monroe from 522 and then south on 203
towards Duvall, turning west on 203rd St. SE which runs streight through the
farm...then left on Crescent.
