Hello, this is Portland Audubon Society's Rare Bird Alert. This recording
was made Thursday February 29. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls
at 233-3976.

A BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was observed Frebruary 9 at River Front Park in
Roseburg. It i still consistantly being seen. Take either the Garden Valley
or Harvoard Blvd. exits off I5. Drive west to Stewart Parkway. Turn north
off Harvard or south off Garden valley. Just north of the Umpqua River
Bridge tu4rn east and park past the locomotive. Take the paved path north
of the road to the knoll where the bird can be found in the oak and madrone
grove.

A BLUE JAY was observed February 26 at mile post 32.5 on Highway 199 south
of Grants Pass near Cave Junction.

On February 24 a live PARAKEET AUKLET was found on Agate Beach near
Newport. It died the next day in rehab.

On February 24 several FORK-TAILED STORM-PETRELS were between the jetties
at Yaquina Bay. Another was at Waldport. Both goldeneyes were noted at
Waldport and three species of loons and all three scoters were in Yaquina
Bay. BLACK-LEGGED KITTWAKES and OLDSQUAW were also seen.

A bright male SURF SCOTER was with a flock of GREATER SCAUP in the
Clatskanie Channel off the Columbia River February 24. Two small groups of
TRUMPETER SWANS and two WHITE-TAILED KITES were in Scappoose Bottoms
February 27. A SAY'S PHOEBE was on the west side of Sauvie Island February
24.

An EMPEROR GOOSE was observed February 17 on the banks of the Sandy River
across from the Lewis and Clark State Park near Trutdale. It was with three
MALLARDS.

Two BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, a HORNED and an EARED GREBE were along Coville
Road in Baskett Slough NWR February 26. A BRANT was observed February 25 at
the south end of Minto Brown Park in Salem.
