Peggi Rodgers asked which ambitious raptor might habitually circle
over and spook Canada Geese, and a couple of tweeters have replied,
"Bald Eagles, naturally."

Indeed, the wintering eagles regularly ogle the Canada Geese
at the Nisqually NWR. Last year I watched an adult Baldie swoop
down, snag a full-sized Canada Goose, and labor to lug the struggling
goose away. Getting only 10 or 15 feet off the ground with the
wriggling load, the eagle finally let go, dropping the goose and
flying off for easier lifting and toting.
