Ken Jacobsen showed up last night with this memo, which he
suggested I read on the air...

Ken asked for this info from the Dept. of Fish & Wildlife
(at the request of Fred Bird)

1. the project involves acquisition of 90 acres near Padilla
Bay using federal funds under the USFWS coastal Wetlands
Grant Program. (also called the Pacific Coast Joint Venture
Program)

2. the purpose of the acquisition is to provide habitat for
migratory waterfowl. After the acquisition, the department
will plant grain crops on the land to benefit migratory
waterfowl.

3. the property sale is scheduled to close in the next three
weeks.
