I have a very reliable first-hand account of a Bald Eagle catching a
(probable) salmon in Hood Canal and being dragged under several times
before it could release & fly off. Many Alaskans have told me of eagles
catching salmon and having to flop to the shore before they got too wet to
fly or were exhausted. So it's not hard to imagine an eagle drowning after
going outside its weight class.

And a Happy Tweeting New Year!
