The The Ridgefield NWR (Carty Unit) Vermilion Flycatcher (female) was way too
easy and conspicuous all morning yesterday (01/04), in the isolated willows
along the gravel path. Far more so than the Red-shouldered Hawk(s), which I
spent 5 hours walking all the trails looking and waiting for in the meadow.
No Luck. I was unable to relocate the flycatcher in the afternoon although
I didn't look very hard then. I say hawks because a birder there at dawn
said he had seen an adult red-shouldered. I had only heard about the
immature, so I'm not sure about what gives there.

I won't vent further on my frustration with the American / Steilacoom Lakes
Little Gull. Russell Rogers caught all that this morning. Suffice it to
say, I'm never going there again -- even for the dodo!
