Spent the morning searching out the Swamp Sparrows at Lake Sammamish State
Park described by Richard Rowlett on January 2nd. Thanks to the orange
ribbons, I found both birds. I got only a glimpse of the one closest to the
road, but had a great, clear look at the second. It was in the thicket just
across the fallen log over the creek near the second ribbon.

If anyone is thinking about looking for these birds, take seriously the
statement that this is swamp. It looks like an easy walk over matted dry
grass. That mat today was floating on top of knee deep water in many
places. Next time I'll wear hip or chest waders! I came home worn out and
soaking wet, but pleased with the results.
