I'm not sure my earlier message made it to Tweeters, so I'm trying again. Sorry if this is repetitive.

Today I went to Ridgefield and saw the Vermillion Flycatcher-no problem with others there to point it out for me! Another Tweeter-Tim S.-was there. Sorry Tim, not sure on your name spelling. Lots of folks were coming and going to look for it.

I also enjoyed all the waterfowl, Scrub Jays, and a couple of White-breasted Nuthatches. I don't see the latter two in my neighborhood. Amazing what a relatively short drive can change.

I stopped at the grocery to pick up some items on the way home. As I returned to my car, movement inside a nearby car caught my eye. I looked up and saw a large Eastern Gray Squirrel sitting on top of the passenger seat. How bizzarre I thought.

At first it held perfectly still, making me think for a moment that it might be stuffed- an even more bizzare possibility. That thought disappeared as it jumped into the back seat.
I moved in for a closer look and it leapt up on top of the seat again to do the same. It

wore a bell around its neck on a pink ribbon. I was struck by its size, not plump, but long, lean, and muscular, with a very full tail. If not for the ribbon it might have been a little menacing.

I wonder if that's how our native squirrels see them.
