We spent Saturday (1/6/96) looking for a few of the goodies that are around.
We first stopped in Ridgefield and saw both the Vermilion Flycatcher and
Red-shouldered Hawk. We were at the park at sunrise and saw both birds by
8:30. We were also glad to see Ruth Sullivan and to meet Wilson Caddy and
Tom Love.

The next stop was Naselle for the Brambling. It showed up appromimatly 10
mins after we arrived (11:15 AM). Four years ago, a Brambling spent a day
our yard (1/30/92). Bill missed that bird, so he was very happy to see this
one.

We then went to South Jetty. It was too windy and rainy to see much. On
one of the park roads we found a Red Phalerope (apparently blow in by the
high winds). It seemed to be finding food in the small puddles in the road.

We returned toward home along Rt 4 and tried to find the Palm Warbler at the
Skamokawa Vista Park but the rain washed us out.

All in all we had a great trip.
