Tweets,

This year's festival will have one more participant this year. Yesterday
Ernie Rose released a rehabbed Bald Eagle on the Skagit to much fanfare.
This is release number 70. 54 Bald and 16 Golden Eagles have been treated
and released in the 25 year historyof the program, The Eagle took off
immediately and flew strongly and maneuvered well. The bird can be
identified by its yellow painted tail( an embarrssment until the molt). If
you see the bird in trouble please give Ernie a call at the zoo (684-4013).

On the local scene the immature Bald Eagle seen around the zoo last week was
observed today(Tues) performing an impressive free flight demonstration in
and around the Northern Trail Exhibit, accompanied by a retinue of gulls. I
watched two short flight demonstrations that were impressive because they
were done at low level. On one occassion the bird was actually below me. The
wingspan was truly impressive in those close quarters as it flew into and
through the trees.

On a final note I will be signing off tweeters for a while for a short trip
to visit some zoological institutions in the state of Florida, and maybe a
"little birding" :>)) Before you turn too green, the temperature in Orlando
was 48 yesterday.
