All you photo wizards,

What's the best way to scan a photo? (bird, of course). Should I use 8-bit
color? 24? How many dpi? 100? 200? 300? Saved as a .gif file? .jpg? I
just scanned one at 24-bit color 300 dpi as a .gif file.. It looks great, but
the file is doggone HUGE!

Thanks for your advice.

Oh, I have an HP4c color scanner (never enuf toys).
