Enjoying my last few days of freedom. I went down to Nisqually NWR to see
what was around. Highlight was a very relaxed Short-earred Owl slowly
swooping over the field. They are so gracefull. Its very nice of this species
of owl to make appearances at 11 in the morning.
Too bad it was so cold. The wind would come up and the temperature dropped. I
kept telling myself that this was now a rare opportunity, being out and about
on a weekday. But I couldn't convince my ears.
The Northern Harriers were very busy. Even scared up a few Mallards. At one
point a Red-tailed came over to harrass the harrier. Aside from the
waterbirds and hawks there were practically no songbirds.
