This morning's Register-Guard carried an article describing the lumber
companys' favorite judge's latest onslaught against the environment.
Although he turned down the industry's petitions to release sales that date
back to 1800, he did authorize many old-growth sales in OR, WA and CA that
had been rejected by the companies who purchased them or removed due to
endangerment of wildlife. Many of which are in roadless, wildnerness areas.
He seems to feel the salmon run in Elk Creek is not sufficient grounds to
prevent clearcut logging.

The Spotted Owl and Murrlet nesting grounds are now also up for grabs to be
clearcut.
