Saturday, after the Magnuson Park monthly birding walk, Jan Bragg and I
checked out the Samish Flats and Skagit/Fir Island for the mythical light
phase Gyrfalcon. No luck, but we saw a rather wet and grouchy looking
Peregrine Falcon perched on a telephone pole west of Edison, a flock of
some 1000 Dunlin in a flooded field, and approximately 25 each of Bald
Eagles (mostly along Padilla Bay) and Great Blue Herons. Four Short-eared
Owls and two Northern Harriers were in the marsh at the end of the Skagit
North Fork.
