Hello,
Some of you may be aware that I have been coordinating the every five
year mid-winter swan survey for western Oregon, Washington and western B.C. in
cooperation with state, federal and provincial agencies and The Trumpeter Swan
Society.
I am presently collecting information on swan sightings outside the main Skagit
Valley area (covered by WDFW). So, while you are out and about birding and
notice swans (or have seen them) please jot down the location, total number,
species- trumpeter, tundra, mute- and the number of adults and juveniles.

If you notice collars, please try to read the code and note the color
(blue or green). If you get a collar you cannot read please call me with the
info on location, etc. the same day, or e-mail me.
Maps of difficult locations are always welcome.

Waterfowl distribution this year, especially swans, has been very
different from the past few years. Swans have definately done their own thing
this year inlikely response to the amount of rainfall. So, we are working a
documenting the expanded distribution they seem to be undertaking.
My mailing address:
14112-1st Ave. W Telephone: (206)787-0258
Everett, WA 98208

If you want a field ID guide to swans send a SAS letter size envelope to the
above address.

I also have information on juvenile/adult ratios for trumpeters and tundras in
the Skagit and many other areas of Western Washington (from our recent survey
counts). Contact me directly for more information.

Thanks for your help,

Martha Jordan
