I suspect Great-horned nab small owls mostly by bushwacking. If the
pygmy is aware of just where the GH is, you'd think it would be agile
and quick enough to escape predation. Perhaps it "knows" this.

For instance, you don't see normally small birds freaking out over Northern
Harriers harrying about a marsh even though they do take birds occasionally
when they manage to surprise one.
