To Dennis and other tweeters:

On Jan 18, Dennis asked about sites to find Rock Sandpipers in Victoria/
southern Vancouver Island, and for a birding companion for David Rosair of
Great Britain.

Sorry, I would have responded earlier, but I am on the Digest mode of
tweeters, so I didn't receive the Thursday postings until about 10:30 this
morning (Friday) and am just now getting through them. (DAN VICTOR: How
does one get out of Tweeters Digest and back into normal (individual)
transmission of Tweeters messages? Thanks.)

Although never an easy species to find here, Clover Point and the adjacent
Victoria/Oak Bay shoreline are among our good spots to find this species.
But most productive are the small islands off Oak Bay and Ten Mile Point. A
small boat is needed. They move with the tides; 2 were recently reported
at Cattle Point in Oak Bay, in company with Surfbirds and Black
Turnstones. Check all flocks of these two species for a ROSA.

I would be pleased to accompany David on Saturday, and if I should get tied
up, I'll find someone else who can. (Ron Satterfield is an excellent
local birder, is retired and works the shoreline each day. He probably
sees more ROSA than anyone else here).
