Dear TWEETERS

It is delusional to think that there is sufficient habitat in Wilderness
Areas and National Parks to maintain species over any length of time. These

parks were primarily set aside because of their economically worthless
nature- don't forget that the Weyerhauser syndicate were responsible for the

creation of Rainier Park because they didn't want to own the top of a
mountain. They used their scrip issued by the government for lands in trade

in North Idaho, which Frederick used to start Potlatch, which then promptly
razed the low-elevation N. Idaho Forests- THE prime habitat in this part of
the state.

All remaining roadless areas across the US are vital for short-term
viability
of many species. It is 'head in the sand' behavior saying otherwise, and
ignores the work of
individuals like Reed Noss that categorizes our wildlands that are
protected-
90% rock and ice and desert.

No more old-growth cut, and late-successional reserves conserved if we are
serious about saving species. We can't just retreat to the parks- even on
the West Side.
