CITIZENS RALLY TO PUSH MARINE WATERS PROTECTION AGENDA

News Conference
Thursday, January 25
12 noon
Capitol Steps, Olympia

Representatives of business, community and environmental, groups will lead a
citizens rally in Olympia at 12 noon on the Capitol steps, Thursday, January
25.

The group will announce at a press conference its Marine Waters Protection
Agenda to protect and restore the health of Puget Sound and Washington
coastal waters. The Agenda specifically addresses actions that State elected
representatives must take to protect marine waters from oil spills, to fully
fund and carry out marine waters protection plans, and to protect and restore
salmon and shellfish habitat.

According to recent statewide polling, voters by a two-to-one margin show
strong support for an initiative to protect water quality in Washington State.

The rally and news conference follow the fifth annual convening of Citizens
Lobby Day at 9 am at the Women's Club of Olympia, 1002 Washington St. SE.

Lobby Day is organized by People For Puget Sound and co-sponsored by the
League of Women Voters and numerous community and environmental groups.
