Five hours of birding between Moses Lake and George today produced 12
species of raptors including 2 owls.

The only Cooper's Hawk I saw appeared to have a yellow plastic leg band.

Here is a list of the raptors seen today.

Red-tailed Hawk 9
Rough-legged Hawk 6
Northern Harrier 9
Cooper's Hawk 1
Golden Eagle 2
Bald Eagle 1
American Kestrel 13
Merlin 1
Prairie Falcon 1
Gyrfalcon 1
Snowy Owl 1
Short-eared Owl 1

The Gyrfalcon was seen just east of the intersection of "I" SW and "4" SW,
Delorme page 68. This bird was unusual in that it was light sandy brown
with darker breast streaking giving it a Prairie Falconish look. I've never
seen a Gyr like this before.
There have been reports of up to 4 individual Gyrs in this area recently.
